About Jennifer Allen

Jennifer Allen is a local painter influenced by a family of artists ranging from potters, painters and musical instrument craftsman. Her works have been shown in local galleries, regional art shows and are held by numerous private collectors throughout the Southeast.

Jennifer and her husband Marc (a computer engineer) work together to make these unique mixed media artworks. Growing up on Rabbit Creek, Marc has a lifetime of knowledge and appreciation for the wildlife that makes its home on the tributary that leads to Dog River. He is responsible for the cutting and construction of the various works. Jennifer has had success in painting portraits and other works in oil on canvas and now she has transferred this gift to using her oils on tin.

To create these works of art, tin is hand-cut to form local marine life (and other forms that strike their fancy) and meticulously hand painted to create a biologically correct likeness - with an artistic flair. Redfish, speckled trout, blue crabs, oysters, wahoo, snapper and tarpon have been created in their own unique style.

Antique and vintage architectural elements are then carefully selected to complement each piece of artwork. Some even have a story to tell – selected distressed lumber comes from a salvaged NC cabin from the 1790’s and many the shutters are French Colonial from the 1870’s.

After residing in Midtown and West Mobile, Marc and Jennifer brought their two sons back to build their home and studio in South Mobile County by the river Marc grew up on.

Currently, the artwork is available directly from the studio or through Lyon’s Share Gallery in Fairhope, AL.
